"Raquey Horror"

This girl is my inspiration, this Peruvian, African American , part Welsh and Puerto Rican, triple threat can, sing, dance, model, and is a Mac makeup artist. Ms.Raquel Reed is a self made icon. Her unique style and talent is over the top and authentic. You may notice her from running with Jeffery Star and his clan but she has moved on from her Scene Queen image and had made a "real" name for herself. She started backup singing for Jeffery Star in 2005 but has now worked with many artist such as "Redman", to pursue her own singing career.Reed is working on her debut studio album "Reed between the lines." If you Google her name you will find videos galore on this alternative model/pop star. She is covered in tattoos of cupcakes to lipstick and not everyone in her life has been supportive but she has proved everyone wrong and is becoming very successful. To makeup artistry at Mac, modeling for Ed Hardy and more, to styling shoots, running her up and coming empire all from her New York pad. If you want to know more about Raquel Reed check her out at http://www.ihateraquelreed.com/, www.modelmayhem.com/19274 , http://raquelreed.buzznet.com/user/ ,www.facebook.com/pages/Raquel-Reed/8023656589 , www.myspace.com/ewraquel

"Check it out"
I went to go get my hair done at a salon, for the first time in two years. I have curly, crazy as my father said,"Don King hair", so I don't trust just anyone. I recently met Heather Langeveldt, a salon owner in Katy,Texas. I did an event with her at a country club down the street from her salon. I got my hair and makeup done including eyelashes and I got my hair colored by the girls at Salon Langeveldt. I instantly fell in love with their amazing service. The salon is in a clean quiet neighborhood in Katy on westheimer parkway, the salon was colorful, edgy and just a perfect lounge spot or women to get away and really feel at home. The stylist were all very professional and fun and the customer service was great. I can't thank them more for their attention. They have all salon services and more, from parties and mothers day out to dance classes for the family. Call to schedule an appointment with the Langeveldt Girls.

"Lea Michele"
My celebrity of the month is Lea Michele. I love this 24 year old "Glee" star. Her fashion sense is amazing. She's so classic yet so modern. She looks so beautiful in everything she wears.Who ever her stylist is , they are doing their job.
Lea Michele stole the Red Carpet at the Emmys, when I can find someone who looks better on the Red Carpet, I will be sure to let everyone know.
I love the nude heels with this one sleeved lace dress. Classic and young , but my favorite are the shoes.
2010 Grammy presenter. She looks fabulous in this mini. It's hard to do a mini right on the red carpet unless your Jlo.
2011 Grammy's , this look was not my favorite of the whole night but she was sure in my top five.I love when she wears classic black. She did the slit well, Kim Kardashian's stylist should learn from Lea Michele's cause though Kim is the most beautiful woman ever that gold draped, high slit dress was awful at the 2011 Grammy's.
Lea Michele Red Carpet Goddess in that long strapless champagne dress. That is the dress that made me fall in love with Michele's style. Also, how many people can wear a brown shear and white long sleeve mini, with thigh high lace ups and look as good as that?Point blank, she inspires me.

New York Fashion Week
It's the end of New York's Fashion Week, and all of the designers, celebrities, fashionistas and journalist make their way home. Twice a year designers show their collections at the new location of Fashion Week in New York's finest Lincoln Center. The Fashion Week Fall shows are held the preceding winter in February. Spring shows are held late summer in September. This fabulous event is by invitation only, each designer is in charge of their guest list. It's not impossible to get in, but it's all about who you know.
Michael Kors celebrated his 30th anniversary this 2011 Fall Fashion Week. With an audience that seated celebs such as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Emma Roberts, Bette Midler, Michael Douglas and more. Mk's collection took Fashion Week by a storm and rocked it. His show was so Kors, with tunics and trousers, the collection was polished yet sporty. Kors can use a million neutrals in his pieces and each one is still so unique and chic. 70's disco draped jersey gowns graced the runway, luxuries and elegant.
Think, nude one shoulder toga gown flowing across the runway, like a feather in the air after a pillow fight at a slumber party, Amazing! Kors brought back thick, chunky belts, long skirts and high slits, he did it so perfectly. My favorite piece of the collection was a suntan turtle neck with suntan charmeuse pajama pants, thrown over was a huge cross body fur bag. Need I say more? Though Michael Kors did not let us down with his fab collection, there's someone else who didn't go un-noticed. The one and only Oscar De La Renta.
De La Renta went Russian chic. He put out statement pieces that you can wear forever and never go out of style. His collection was filled with glamorous embellishments, eastern textures, knits, lace, leather, fur, floral's and colors to die for. The technique used in De La Renta's work is unbelievable. I highly encourage everyone to sulk themselves into a little De La Renta.
These Fashion Week vets, have inspired many women with their creativity and understanding of a woman. Want to experience the fashions of Kors and De la Renta, check out www.michaelkors.com and www.oscardelarenta.com

Valentines Day Take Two
Here's a little valentines advice for you guy's out there for next year. What not to get your girlfriend, unless you want to sleep on the couch. One, gift certificates; Its impersonable and shows her you didn't take your time and actually think about what she wants. Two, A gym membership; she will think your calling her fat and its over from there. Love what you got. Three, anything that belonged to or reminds you of an ex; If it reminds you of your ex your girlfriend will know. Four, plastic surgery; she wants you to want her the way she is,even if she's unhappy. Five, money; she's not a hooker need I say more? Six, regifting; it makes you cheap. No girl wants someone cheap.Seven, candy and a card be unique its too typical. Do not forget what her likes and dislikes are unless you want to piss her off.Just some other advice.
When she walks away or leaves she wants you to do anything to get her to stay or at least run after her. When she says, "Do you want to talk about it?", she means you better talk about it because she does. When she says she's okay when you already know she's not, expect hell because she's not. When she says,"What are you thinking about?", she means "Do you still love me?",and you better say yes. Also guys we all know what, "I need some space", means so when your about to bounce try three new words or expect to see the wrath. Oh and do yourself a favor and never ask for a threesome especially with her friend.
Hope everyone had a wonderful valentines day. Be creative and make your girl happy she deserves the world and more and do it often not just Valentines Day keep it unexpected and exciting. Xoxo Ashley

"Forgive and Forget"
So the question on my mind right now is,"Can you ever really forgive if you can't forget?" The offended is usually reluctant to forgive, especially if you know the other is never really going to change. How many times have you heard "I'm sorry?" Men tend to say that a lot, even after the fact they just ripped your heart out and threw it over their shoulder. Yet women seem to forgive them just because they said those two words,"I'm sorry." How about not messing up in the first place. Don't get me wrong forgivness is great but if something hurts you so bad and you really can't stop thinking about it, yet ignore the pain and rage, are you really forgiving someone? When did it start being okay for a man to cheat, lie and betray and we just let it go because he apologized? We as women have worked hard just to be equal and yet we still let men hurt us so bad to where we make ourselves sick. Ladies we all let men do this to us. Let's all sit down and write down all the times they had to say, "I'm sorry";and we took them back. Oh, but we love them so much. Why love someone so much more then you love yourself ? Why say someones name more times a day than you would ever say your own? I listened to so many devastating stories alot of my own. Its like a classic remake everytime. Every girl has been through the same thing at one time. After he messes up were expected to let it go cause its the past, really? Its not fair to stay in a relationship with someone whom you know you can't truly forgive. This includes thinking about it everyday or just ever bringing up his douchebag ways. Just deal with the fact that your with an asshole and he will never change or leave his sorry ass.At the end of every relationship after all the tears and phone call after phone call, what's it all really worth?

"Hello Lovers"
"A woman has the age she deserves". Fashion icon Coco Chanel once said. "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous."There's nothing I love more than Chanel, yet how many of us out there can actually afford to sulk ourselves into the couture designs of Miss Coco and the amazing Karl Lagerfield? On a budget but still want to look Glamorous. Ladies its all about incorporating your own look into the on going changes in the fashion industry . Fashion is not just about following the latest trends, its about taking them and setting it the part from the millions following the same trends and making it your own.
Though as all of us Houstonian's know Houston weather is like a Katy Perry song, "Were hot then were cold. "One day there's a cold front and the next day we will have 100 degree weather then that night it will rain for a week. That's why this is a total public service announcement for us Houstonian's.What do we do wear ? This season its all about pants, pants, pants. This year the trouser is a total go.You can find an amazing cargo at Metropark by Level 99 , True Religion and Black Garbardine Trouser pant by MP Black .
.......... BTW...........
Did anyone catch Dior's 2011Haute Couture Fashion Show in Paris? I still cant get over how amazing It was I have nothing to say just see it for yourselves.
All I have to say is, "Hello Lovers."AMAZING but If you can not afford Dior as most of us cant, here are some easy trends you can get for cheap but still look fabulous.
Animal prints (Minus) the actual animal. Trends come and go but there are some that never really fade. My grandma has been wearing leopard print since I can remember and shoulder pads never in my life would I have been caught dead in. Tell me why I am now rumbling through my grandmas wardrobe?
This season we have taken the classic "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", soundtrack and remixed it. "Silver and Gold", no longer a Christmas song, but a way of life to most fashionista's. Glitz it up this year and mix your metallic's . No one ever said you had to match. Whether you throw on a Sparkly Jacket from Gryphon New York or add some sparkle in some sassy yet classy shorts, its the route to take.
Jimminy Cricket has not only starred in classic Disney films and put out hit songs, but he is now soon to grace the covers of Vogue and Bazaar. Jimminy has inspired fashion with the the black tuxedo jacket and don't be afraid to try on that top hat.If men inspired fashions is not your niche, you can also try a cropped leather jacket or faux it up with some fur. Yes people animals are in!Everyone is doing it, were wearing our pets on our bodies now instead of in our purses. Though they do look amazing there are other routes to go. Go faux!It looks just as fab and is half the price.
Don't just dream about the fashions from Chanel,Oscar De La Renta, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney.Be your own personal stylist and turn couture fashions into reality. You can find some great shopping at Wish, Couture Blowout and Silver Smith.Next time you stop by the mall don't hesitate before you go into Forever 21, Metropark or White House Black Market. For the Best Houston Bargain shopping hit up your local Family Thrift or Fallas Paredes the prices and the finds may surprise you. -Ashley Christian

"How to run in stilettos"
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. The purpose of "How to run in stilettos", is a women's guide to life. People don't realize what we really do as women. When it comes to fashion, hair, makeup, beauty, mothers. We are strong people and here at "How to run in stilettos", you will read about things people are afraid to talk about, tips on fashion and makeup and hair, sex, and the truth about anything and everything us women actually deal with in life and whats going on in the world. I cant tell you everything just yet, cause then I will just spoil it all for you.I will tell you a little about myself and hope you continue reading my blog.If anyone has any questions or suggestions please email me at ashley.christian2@yahoo.com
I am highly trained in the fashion industry, I studied at Paul Mitchell and studied makeup artistry and skincare downtown Houston,Texas. I t all started with a box, of what I thought at the time was "Oh so very couture."It was the day I pulled the Lavender silk, beaded dress out of this old costume box. I topped the dress of with some costume jewelry and some glitter barbie heels. It was the day I fell in love with fashion.
After years of playing dress up, designing clothes and bossing my cousins around in my homemade fashion shows, I decides to take my passion to another level. That is why I decided to write this blog. I studied constantly about fashion and the cosmetic industry, I even went to school to do hair. Just so I can know what I am talking about when I write or style someone or teach. You cant really talk about something and expect to teach it if you don't know what your talking about, can you ? I do everything I do for you , fashion shows, classes, writing, makeup artistry and more so I can spread the love for my favorite obsessions.
It was tempting to wish for the perfect way out, the perfect outfit, the perfect guy, the perfect job. Sometimes I felt I was never going to find my way out of the fashion drought Texas. It seemed so much easier to just quit my search and make everyone happy, but I watch too much "Sex and the City", Miss Carrie Bradshaw did teach me one thing,"Play the hand we been dealt and accessorize what we got ". That's when I discovered the perfect accessory. I realized that Fashion was my calling when I first moved into my first apartment.I would spend my rent money and dinner money on a new pair of shoes or a fashion magazine. 20 pounds lighter I knew then where I was suppose to be.
"You know maybe some women aren't meant to be tamed, maybe they just need to run free where they can find where their heart is suppose to be." Whose to say it all wont work out in the end. I hope ya'll keep reading and watch all my videos and online classes.
xoxo Ashley
